The See Monterey website (
visit link) informs us:
"The Cooper-Molera Adobe, located at 525 Polk Street at Alvarado, stands high and mighty in historic downtown Monterey. This homestead dating back to the 1820's is a true labor of love taking three generations to fully complete the complex. Ship Captain John Rogers Cooper began the project after marrying into the prestigious Moleras family from Mexico. His future relatives continued to build upon the three acre property until 1900. The adobe was completely restored in 1980 and still contains many of the home furnishings and remnants from the original family.
Starting April 28th curious visitors can take a trip back in time and tour the inside of this historic adobe. Tours will be available Friday through Sunday at 10:30am and 1:30pm for $5. The adobes gardens are open daily from 9am to 4pm where guests can take a peek at the fruit and vegetable gardens, barns and visitor center. Take home a little souveniour from your trip and stop in at the Cooper Museum Store. For tour information call 831-649-7111."
