The subject of the mural was an Aboriginal boy the artist photographed in the desert plains of the Northern Territory. The artist said of the mural: “This boy is anonymous because I don’t want it to be about the individual person, I want it to represent the indigenous community as a whole.” A black cockatoo has also been painted as the bird is a totem to the people of Nowra and the Yuin Nation.
The boy's blue eyes reflect the Australian landscape, the interpretation of which has been left to the beholder. The mural faces a large council carpark & can be seen from many vantage points. The paint (20 litres & 70 spray cans) has deep, earthy tones directly linking the mural to the Aboriginal flag.
