While walking around the church we found a lot of old gravestones, mostly in form of o latin cross.
They have different reliefs and inscriptions.
At the entrance stands a information about some of the crosses:

"Es geschah im Juni 1714. Damals kam Stephanus Unckels durch Steinschlag ums Leben. Das Vulkangestein, das er am Hohenberg abbaute, verfolgt ihn bis heute. Denn selbst sein Grabkreuz besteht aus Trachyt. So mancher Steinhauer starb auch an Staublunge. Bei den Sprengungen im Steinbruch wurden große
Mengen Feinstaub aufgewirbelt, dem die Männer schutzlos ausgesetzt waren. Die alten Trachytkreuze hier auf dem Friedhof erzählen von Berkumer Lebensgeschichten vor 300 Jahren.
