This historic marker confusingly has the same title but completely different text from the previously waymarked Wilson Block HM that stands in front of the historic homes (now serving as social service agency offices) in the 2900 block of Swiss Avenue near the Meadows Foundation.
Adding to the confusion: Both markers bear the same number in the Texas Historic Sites Atlas.
The marker is publicly accessible during weekday working hours of 9am-5pm, when the parking lot gates are open. This lot can be accessed from both Floyd Street and Liberty Street.
Marker Number: 6922
Marker Text: This historic neighborhood is located on land patented in 1838 to Illinois native John Grigsby. Dallas businessman Frederick P. Wilson and his wife Henrietta Frichot Wilson acquired the site in 1898 and built their residence (2922 Swiss Avenue) and six other houses. Owned by the Wilsons for almost eighty years, the houses became the nucleus of the Wilson Block. Several early Dallas leaders rented homes here. Similar in composition, the houses in the neighborhood are representative of the city's lifestyle at the turn of the century. (1983)
Entered into the National Register of Historic Places 1978
