A 7' high granite pentagon sits on a two tiered base. It has a pair of crossed muskets at the top and the inscription 1861-1865 at its base. The monument contains a raised tablet of polished granite with the dedication followed by a two column list of seventeen names:

IN MEMORY OF THE SOLDIERS OF SAID
TOWN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN
THE WAR OF THE REBELLION, 1861 - 1865
