The Town:
Diegten is a municipality in the district of Waldenburg in the canton of Basel-Land with about 1600 inhabitants. The town consisted of five separate hamlets in the middle ages which have grown together to a long drawn-out street village today.
Diegten was first documented in 1152. In the Middle Ages the area belonged to the counts of Froburg, in 1381 it was enfeoffed to the Knights of Eschenz. After several changes of ownership, the northern part of the municipality came to the city of Basel in 1482, the southern part along with Eptingen five years later.
The Town Hall:
The town hall of Diegten is a modern two-storey building in the residential district in the east of the municipality. In addition to the town hall, the building contains the local fire department on the rear side.

Diegten ist eine Gemeinde im Bezirk Waldenburg im Kanton Basel-Landschaft mit etwa 1600 Einwohnern. Die Gemeinde bestand im Mittelalter aus fünf getrennten Weilern, die heute zu einem langezogenen Strassendorf zusammen gewachsen sind.
Diegten wurde 1152 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Im Mittelalter gehörte die Gegend den Grafen von Froburg, 1381 wurde es an die Ritter von Eschenz belehnt. Nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln kam der nördliche Teil der Gemeinde 1482 an die Stadt Basel, der südliche Teil zusammen mit Eptingen fünf Jahre später.
Das Gemeindehaus:
Das Gemeindehaus von Diegten ist ein modernes zweistöckiges Gebäude in einem Wohnquartier in Osten der Gemeinde. Neben der Gemeindeverwaltung enthält das Gebäude an der Rückseite die örtliche Feuerwehr.
