This former hand operated pump is nowadays part of a fountain. The pump is well restored, pained in grey with some golden colored details. The handle is mounted so that we can't move it.

" 25 Jahre Dorffest in Niederich. Wie aus einer Bierlaune ein Erfolg wurde
Aus ei.ner Bierlaune während der WM 1986 wurde in der Garage von Werner Schäfer die Idee geboren, doch einmal ein Dorffest in Niederich zu veranstalten. Diese Idee wurde sogleich in die Tat umgesetzt und am 09. August 1986 fand das erste Dorffest – damals noch im Wiesengrund – statt.
Aus dem Erlös dieses Dorffestes wurde auf einem Grundstück von Herbert Schäfer, Leimersdorf, ein kleiner Dorfplatz mit einer Hütte im Wiesengrund angelegt, um für Alt und Jung einen Treffpunkt zu schaffen.
1994 wurde aus den Erlösen der bisherigen Dorffeste auf einem mitten im Dorf gelegenen Grundstück, das von der Gemeinde Grafschaft angekauft worden war, der jetzige Dorfplatz angelegt. Im Rahmen des Umzugs vom alten auf den neuen Dorfplatz wurden sogar ganze Häuser versetzt. Mit dem Gabelstapler wurde die Hütte vom Wiesengrund an ihren neuen Standort gebracht.
Der neue Platz entwickelte sich bald zum Magneten für Jung und Alt. Aufgrund des großen Interesses wurde 1996 mit sehr großem Engagement und Begeisterung der Niedericher die Hütte erweitert, damit das Dorfleben auch ganzjährig stattfinden konnte. Hierbei wurde die Dorfhütte mit Wasser, Strom, Toilette, Heizung etc. ausgestattet.
Aber - ohne die tatkräftige Hilfe der vielen freiwilligen Helfer wäre das alles nicht möglich gewesen.
Die alljährlich stattfindenden Dorffeste entwickelten sich schnell zu einem Publikumsmagneten für Jedermann aus den umliegenden Ortschaften und von weiter her. Die Erlöse wurden dazu verwandt, den Dorfplatz und seine Umgebung weiter zu verschönern. Dazu gehört der neue Brunnen auf dem Dorfplatz und die Pumpe an der Werthhovener Straße, die 2007 fertig gestellt wurden.
25 Jahre nach dem ersten Dorffest hat sich das Gemeinschaftsleben auf dem Dorfplatz so etabliert, dass sich auch Einwohner aus den umliegenden Orten gerne einfinden.
Das Engagement und die Begeisterung sind immer noch vorhanden, um auch in den kommenden Jahren noch viele schöne Feste auszurichten. "

The new space soon became the magnet for young and old. Following the success in 1996 with huge commitment and enthusiasm of Niedericher extends the cabin, so the village life could also take place throughout the year. Here, the village hut was equipped with water, electricity, toilets, heating, etc..
But - without the active help of many volunteers this would not have been possible.
The village festivals held annually developed quickly forth to an audience magnet for everyone from the surrounding villages and on. The proceeds were used to beautify the village square and its surroundings on. This includes the new fountain in the village square and the pump at the Werth Hovener road, which were completed of 2007.
25 years after the first village festival, the community life has so established in the village square that also residents from surrounding villages like arrive.
The commitment and enthusiasm are still available to align many beautiful festivals in the coming years. "
