Porteau Cove Provincial Park is sliver of land between the Canadian National Railway and the shores of Howe Sound. In this small area is a campground and a world famous scuba diving park. It was opened on July 28, 1981.

On July 28, 1981 the provincial Minister of Lands, Parks, and Housing opened the recently developed provincial park called Porteau Cove. Located between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish this provincial park was primarily developed as a scuba diving area and includes an underwater dive area that features three shipwrecks for divers to experience. James Chabot was a long standing Member of the Legislative Assembly in British Columbia. He served 23 years in office.
