Hessie Alexandre S. Bowsher was born in 1879 and married Frederick Harry Bowsher and they had two children. A son, Allison Patrick who passed away in 1992 and a daughter, Dorothy Marian who passed away in 1987.

Hessie Alexandre S. Bowsher lived a full life until her passing January 18, 1980. During her lifetime she witnessed the Boer War, two world wars and Korean War. In 1917 Women won right to vote, 1929 Women are considered "Persons" under Canadian law, and in 1965 Maple Leaf becomes official flag of Canada. The Oyama Community Cemetery is located within the Central Okanagan Regional District. Gently sloping towards Kalamalka Lake, this is a well maintained cemetery and about 2 acres in size.

There are approximately 370 interments with the earliest in 1950. The cemetery is still active with the latest known burial was in 2013.
