The flag was introduced in 1930. It is based on the coat of arms of the noble family Eschenz from Thurgau who was enfeoffed the lordship of Diegten in 1381.
I found this flag, together with the flags of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft and Switzerland, at several locations along the main street.

Die Flagge wurde im Jahre 1930 eingeführt. Es handelt sich um das Wappen der thurgauischen Adelsfamilie Eschenz, die 1381 mit der Herrschaft Diegten belehnt wurden.
Ich fand diese Flagge zusammen mit den Flaggen des Kantons Basel-Landschaft und der Schweiz an mehreren Orten an der Hauptstrasse.
