The plaque says, "Methodist Episcopal Church - The Methodist episcopal congregation held meetings in the Saratoga Village area (called McCarthyville at that time) as early as 1852, but this church was not built until 1895. The belfry with the steeple was added in 1903. The building ceased to function as a church in 1924 when its small congregation merged with Saratoga Federated Church. This little chapel was sold to acclaimed artist Theodore Wores, who used it for his studio and gallery until just before his death in 1939. The interior retains decorative details added by wores during his ownership. The building was also used by the Red Cross in World War II. In the 1950s, the steeple was removed due to its poor condition."
