A nice example of a Victorian Post Box in Church Street, Peasenhall.

Mounted in what looks like a recently pointed buttress on the end of a barn backing onto Church Street, this nice example of an Allen box is recently de-rusted and painted. The coping stone and brickwork look original but the 'buttress' has obviously been added after the barn was built - the brick courses do not line up!
Tell us about the area the post box is situated.: In a quiet rural village in Suffolk, on the road to Rendham, opposite the side-road from the churchyard.
Condition of the box: Good/Average/Poor: Good
Is this post box still in use?: Yes. Monday to Friday 1630, Saturday 0900. No collection Sunday.
Is VR embossed on the post box or is it an "anonymous" box?: Embossed above the letter slot with the crown.
Any other embossed lettering, such as manufacturer?: Manufacturer on base below the door, Post Office on the slot hood.
Manufacturer Inscription: WT Allen & Co, London (1881-1901)
