This park has been in a triangle between major roads for many years. It has an ancient tree and a fountain dedicated in 1893.

On November 11, 2003 this old park was renamed Fayetteville Veterans Memorial Park and a rock with a plaque was put in it.

"The name "Fayetteville" was chosen to honor the hero of the American Revolution, Marquis de Lafayette. "
