Cut benchmark on the south east angle, south face of St Remigus' church, Long Clawson.

"The Parish Church of Long Clawson is dedicated to the 6th century Bishop of Rheims, St Remigius.

The origins of the church trace back to Norman times but it's main structual period lies in the 14th century. In 1890 the restoration required was so dramatic that the decision was taken to demolish the entire church and rebuild to a new design. However, due to the intervention of the Bishop of Peterborough, the Right Reverend Dr Creighton, the building was restored at the great cost of £3,000."
