Be prepared to wait a little bit during peak hours, but they've got a seating area, by the registers and the rest rooms, with room for about twenty people. Our Place is extremely popular, and people will come here from miles around for good ol' home cookin' in a restaurant with an old country decor. The service is wonderful, even when it's crazy busy, and if you're lucky, you'll get to say hello to the owner, who makes regular rounds.
They serve breakfast all day, and you'll find the usual eggs, pancakes, waffles, omelets, benedicts, and big breakfasts with options like chicken fried steak, pork chops, sirloin, pork chops, sausage, or salmon. Lunch fare includes salads, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, fish, steak, and other comfort food, and they have daily specials to fill you up. They have a children's menu and a menu for smaller appetites, and offer soft drinks, juice, tea, coffee, and milk to drink. Be sure to save some room for their homemade pies or cakes.
Our Place attracted national attention in 2016 when a local attorney threatened to sue them for $252.25, citing breach of contract when he arrived too late to get his "while supplies last" free bowl of homemade soup (which can also be ordered à la carte) with his daily special. The attorney, a real life Soup Nazi, got the attention he wanted and quietly dropped his threat, while Our Place took advantage of the opportunity to sell shirts with "Soup so good, you'll sue for it." They also did a canned soup drive for charity, giving customers a small break on their bill if they showed up with a can of soup. The soup really IS good, either vegetable or bean, depending on the day you dine here.
