The only information I can find is in the Masons lodge reports, and old blogs which are all protected PDF's. So, I will try to put in my own words what I have read.
In 1879 The IOOF voted to build a building and use the up stair for their lodge, rent the store fronts on "main Street" (W. Hudson St.) to pay taxes and expenses and pay off the building debt.
Before construction began the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) approached the Odd Fellows with a proposal to throw in with them to gt the building built. Financial details were NOT mentioned.
During construction, the Mason suggested they would rent space and would like their lodge to be recognized on the building front, guaranteeing to stay forever.
The three stones in the building face are from the left: "I.O.O.F 456" - "1880" - A.F.&A.AM., No. 635"
