NY0544 - USC&GS&SS 'E 277' BM - Klamath County, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey and State Survey benchmark from 1934 in good condition. The datasheet info is adequate for station recovery with the exception that tthe Chiloquin railroad station is gone as well as the water tank (foundation posts still remain). Lots of history in nearby Braymill, named after logging mill that was owned by a Mr. Bray until the late 1920s. The original witness post needed to be propped back up again. This benchmark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4301'. My posted coordinates should place you very close to this mark.

RAILROAD STATION AT CHILOQUIN, KLAMATH COUNTY, ABOUT 0.1 MILE EAST OF BRAYMILL, ON A RIDGE EAST OF A WATER TANK, 60 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, ON A STEEP GRADE, ABOUT 20 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, 45 FEET SOUTH OF A LONE 15-FOOT ROCK PILLAR, IN THE TOP OF A ROCK, AND 2 FEET SOUTH OF A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STATE SURVEY STANDARD DISK, STAMPED 4301 E 277 1934.
