In Keene, at Central Square is the United Church of Christ in Keene.
The church is on the north side of the town common- also a hub for the rotary there.
The church is a large, white structure that has a stone or cement base and a clapboard siding. The front faces the common, and a clock and bell tower rise above the front and the common, topped by a pointed steeple.
The web site for the church states that the congregation is the second oldest congregation in southwestern New Hampshire. The present building is the fourth meeting house, though it was originally located near where the Civil War Soldier monument is now located. A bell was installed in 1792, and a clock was installed in 1794. A new spire 130 ft high was built in 1829. Over the years, other changes have been added.
Services are on Sunday at 10:00 am, 9:00 am during the summer months.
The congregation is active in several ways. There is the Circle of Caring, Stephen Ministries, and Prayer Ministry, which provide support and prayer activities for people in need. Other groups also use the church to hold meetings or practice.
