NY0551 - USC&GS&SS 'L 277' BM - Klamath County, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey and State Survey benchmark from 1934 in good condition. The datasheet info is adequate for station recovery with the exception that the Chiloquin railroad station no longer exists. The pine tree mentioned in the datasheet is still there and is actually a split pine (two trunks). The original witness post needed to be propped back up again. This benchmark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4393'. My posted coordinates should place you very close to this mark.

RAILROAD STATION AT CHILOQUIN, KLAMATH COUNTY, ON THE SUMMIT OF A SMALL HILL, 47 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 28 FEET WEST OF A 30-INCH TWIN PINE TREE, AND 2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STATE SURVEY STANDARD DISK, STAMPED 4393 L 277 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING ABOUT 3 INCHES ABOVE GROUND.
