This large bell stands just inside the front door of Honolulu Hale (City Hall) located at 530 South King Street in the historic capitol district of downtown Honolulu.

The bell came from the World War II U.S.S. Honolulu which was commissioned in 1938.
A plaque says: U.S.S. Honolulu / Lanakila Mau - Always victorious / Launched August 26, 1937 / Commissioned June 15, 1938 / WWII Engagements / List / In memory of those who have struggled and died that freedom and peace shall endure
Two other plaques list the names of those who were killed in action.
