In February, 1881 Bassett and Morehead organized the State National Bank with Morehead as president and Bassett a major stockholder. The bank was operated out of a brick building located on the site of the present one.

The State National Bank moved in 1962, and the building eventually became retail space in the early 1990s. Rio Grande Department Store has been replaced by Prom Dress Shop.
