THIS U.S. FLAG WAVES PROUDLY IN HONOR OF THE HEROES OF 911112001 AND LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS, MILITARY VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE IN PURSUIT OF SAFETY FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THIS COMMUNITY.
The tragic events of September 11, 2001 were a violation of our core beliefs that people have an inalienable right to live without fear and free of harm no matter their race or religion; and to be embraced and honored for their unique contributions to Hayward, a community that revels in the richness that comes from a joyous mixture of people from many different cultures. We will not forget that tragic day and the men, women and children that died there„ Nor will we allow those events to poison our community and turn neighbors against neighbors. We will honor the lives, lost by being respectful of one another and by working in service to our community to strengthen and grow our city together - The Residents of Hayward
