The Douglas DC-3 was the work horse of World War II and of the post war years, all the way to the airlift during the 1948 Berlin Blockade.

Over 16.000 air crafts of this type were built and some are still in use today, over 70 years later.

This particular one saw its last action on New Years day 2000 when it was used for parachute jumps. It was then flewn to Redding, CA but caught a cockpit fire on approach. It survived the fire, was flown back to Lodi and has not flown since. It belongs to the owner of the Lodi Parachute Center and is parked next to the main Parachute Center hanger.

The plane has been on static display long enough for other aviators to take over.
A number of bird families have built their nests in what was once the engine of the plane.
