Three dedicated specialists from Hannover formed their own hospital on 1 July 1951. The clinic was named after Sophie Fittje. She was born in Hanover and was the daughter of the owner of the land, where Sophienklinik stands today. She died in World War 2 at the age of 31 years exactly at this point in the bombing.
Today Sophienklinik is with 112 beds the largest private hospital in Hanover.
