Everyone, even little towns, is jumping on the decorated utility box bandwagon. After spotting this one we drove around the town, but, alas, no more pretty boxes were to be found - yet.
This box, likely a control box for the railway crossing signs, among other things, has been hand painted by a local artist,
April Kopp, of Trail, BC, sometime this year (2016). Instead of a brush as her tool, April spray paints these boxes. Just a couple days earlier we had stumbled across some old freezers at the community garden in Trail which she had painted in the same style. They are just as pretty as this utility box.
For inspiration April needed only to look around her at the surrounding mountains and forests. As well, she added a mountain stream and an old farmstead. We noticed on her facebook page that she had solicited photographs of scenery, etc. for inspiration for projects just such as this. With bright, vivid colours, this is a very striking utility box, a great addition to a small park which runs along beside the tracks to the north.
