A truly sad story told by this granite headstone in St Peter's churchyard, Shackerstone. Sister and brother both falling through ice.

A modern stone made of granite, and is in memory of William and Susan Evans who both died on 7 March 1965, aged 10 and eight respectively, while Susan was trying to save William who had fallen through ice at Odstone.
The inscription reads:
Loving memories of
William David
Freeman Evans
Aged 10 years
who fell through
the ice at Odstone
on 7th March 1965
and Susan Alice
aged 8 years
courageously trying to
save her brother.
There is no fear in Love.
