I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Azimuth Mark from 1952 in good condition. This mark is part of the 'Alton' series of benchmarks located approximately .75 miles NW of this mark. This AZ mark has its own PID #CD8975 from the NGS datasheet. There is a metal witness post spraypainted orange at the top to aid in station recovery. To access this AZ mark, you must pass through a metal gate locate about 100 feet south of the station. My posted coordinates should place you close to this AZ mark.

From the ALTON NGS datasheet to describe to-reach for AZ mark:

AZIMUTH MARK, STAMPED ALTON 1952, IS A STANDARD DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN A BOULDER 3 FEET IN DIAMETER AND PROJECTING 12 INCHES. IT IS 130 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 108 FEET NORTHEAST OF AN 18 INCH PINE TREE AND 95 FEET NORTH WEST OF TWO 6 INCH PINE TREES WITH TRIANGLE BLAZES. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 1.4 METERS.
