"The Civil War had just closed and it was in the year 1866 when the present St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church at the corner of Main and Steuben Sts. was "put under process of erection."
The new building was dedicated on Oct 8, 1867. "

"The Browse & Buy had their annual outdoor sale and we also had our semi-annual community dinner. Business at the Browse & Buy was brisk and people came away with many treasures. One woman who came to the community dinner had just been to the sale and she had purchased a beautiful silk flower arrangement. When we commented on it, she beamed and informed us that it had also come with a beautiful vase. Many people who came to the community dinner had been to our previous dinners and they expressed their thanks."
