An NGS benchmark located just off old Hwy 97 in Siskiyou County, CA.

Recovered in good condition as described in the NGS datasheet with the exception that Grass Lake railroad station no longer exists and the highway has been re-routed to the east. Two witness posts aid in recovery, one a carsonite post, the other a white metal post. This BM is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4376'. The NGS datasheet coordinates are adequate for station recovery.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 5.6 MI S FROM GRASS LAKE. 5.6 MILES SOUTH ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 97 FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD STATION AT GRASS LAKE, 0.2 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE T JUNCTION OF THE MILITARY PASS ROAD LEADING EAST, AT THE SOUTH END OF A CUT, IN THE TOP OF AN OUTCROP, 175 FEET SOUTHWEST AND ACROSS THE HIGHWAY FROM THE ENTRANCE TO A GRAVEL PIT, 65.7 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 2 1/2 FEET LOWER THAN THE HIGHWAY, AND 0.6 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND.
