Thomas Mellan - RISING STAR

Organ concert with Thomas Mellan, a vibrant young prodigy -organist and composer. He is an exciting Rising Star and winner of numerous competitions; born in France in 1995, he has lived in San Diego since 2000. In 2015, he received first place in the national Music Merit Foundation competition, and was one of six organists invited to record on the Walt Disney Concert Hall Organ. As Young Artist of the Year, he performed a solo receital at the 23rd Organ Festival at St. Eustache in Paris, France. His catalogue of over thirty compositions includes orchestral, chamber and solo works. He was recently awarded the Thornton Faculty Award, the most prestigious scholarship awarded to an undergraduate at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree with double major in organ and composition.
Mr. Mellan will present music by four French composers (Clérambault, Franck, Dupré and Daruflé) on the 101-rank Casavant Frères organ. This FPC Arts concert is co-sponsored by the American Guild of Organists and the Musical Merit Foundation.
