Die Mosel hat viele spektakuläre Schleifen - ob bei Bremm, Trittenheim, Piesport, Zell oder Kröv: Motive dieser einzigartigen Landschaften zieren viele Postkarten, Prospekte und Poster. In Zukunft ist die Moselschleife bei Kröv/Traben-Trarbach-Wolf zwar nur in einer Breite von 2 mal 44,20 Millimeter und einer Höhe von 26,20 Millimeter als Foto abgebildet, dafür aber millionenfach.
Das Bundesfinanzministerium bringt im April eine Sondermarke heraus, die diese Moselschleife zeigt. Die Auflage beträgt 35 Millionen Stück. Es ist eine Doppelmarke beziehungsweise ein Briefmarken-Pärchen. Der Wert beträgt zwei Mal 90 Cent. Rund vier bis fünf Millionen Menschen in Deutschland sammeln Briefmarken. Viele erhalten regelmäßig Broschüren und Kataloge, in denen die neuesten Sondermarken aufgelistet sind. Im Heft Philatelieshop heißt es unter anderem zu der neuen Sondermarke: "Die Mosel gilt als wichtigster Nebenfluss des Rheins. Die sie umgebende, liebliche Landschaft ist geprägt vom Weinbau und beherbergt malerische Ortschaften. Als "La Moselle" entspringt der Fluss in den französischen Vogesen, fließt an Trier vorbei, schlängelt sich durch Hunsrück und Eifel und mündet schließlich nach 544 Kilometern bei Koblenz in den Rhein.
Berühmt ist die Mosel nicht zuletzt wegen ihrer zahlreichen Schleifen, etwa bei Bremm oder bei Pünderich. Als eine der schönsten Moselschleifen gilt jene bei Kröv an der Mittelmosel. Der Weinort mit rund 2300 Einwohnern liegt mitten im windungsreichsten Teil des Mosellaufes und ist umgeben von rebenbewachsenen Hängen.
Von Kröv aus führt eine Straße in Serpentinen aufwärts zu einer idyllischen Bergkapelle, die mitten in den Weinbergen liegt. Hier oben wird man mit einem der schönsten Panoramen belohnt, das Deutschland zu bieten hat. Zu Füßen liegt das Weindorf Kröv am Beginn der engen Moselschleife.

Der Fluss windet sich um den Traben-Trarbacher Stadtteil Wolf, ehe er Richtung Traben-Trarbach fließt, dem geschäftigen Doppelstädtchen unter der Festung Mont Royal.

Die Sondermarke Moselschleife ist Teil der Briefmarkensonderserie "Deutschlands schönste Panoramen". Bisher erschienen sind Marken vom Gendarmenmarkt Berlin, Chiemsee, Marktplatz Bremen und Dresdner Elbpanorama. Im kommenden Jahr erscheint das Motiv Markgräfler Land. Nach Auskunft des Bundesfinanzministeriums wird es im kommenden Jahr auch ein Postwertzeichen speziell zum Thema "Weinanbaugebiete Deutschlands" geben. Genauere Details dazu sind noch nicht bekannt."
