The plaque says, "Build in 1794, the City-owned Monanez Adobe is listed separately in the National register of Historic Places. Pauline Montanez was the first recorded deed holder to the Adobe in 1850. Restored to its original two-room design with a dirt floor, the grounds have been interpreted to reflect the California Landscape of Polonia's time"
