Das erste Stadion wurde 1923 gebaut und Ilgen-Kampfbahn genannt. Das im zweiten Weltkrieg zerstörte Stadion wurde 1951 wieder aufgebaut und Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion genannt (nach dem Mittelstreckenläufer). Ende 2007 erfolgte ein Abriß - seit 15. September 2009 wird im neuen Stadion gespielt. 2010 gab es einen neuen Sponsor und eine Umbennennung in „glücksgas stadion“. Der Vertrag endete in 2014 und der neue Name war dann Stadion Dresden. Anfang 2016 kaufte die DDV Mediengruppe die Namensrechte des Stadions und nun ist der Name, bis zum 30. Juni 2020, DDV-Stadion.
Hier spielt Dynamo Dresden Fußball (

Aber es gab auch weitere Veranstaltungen: U-20-Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft der Frauen 2010, Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft der Frauen 2011, Länderspiele, FDGB-Pokalfinale 1968-1970, Big6 European Football League, DEL2 Winter Derby 2016 (31.853 Zuschauer). Und ein ausverkauftes Geisterspiel am 11. März 2012 zwischen Dynamo Dresden und dem FC Ingolstadt 04. (
