Das Altpörtel war das westliche Stadttor der Stadt Speyer. Mit einer Höhe von 55 Metern ist es eines der höchsten und bedeutendsten Stadttore Deutschlands. Es wurde im Jahr 1176 erstmals Mal in einer Urkunde erwähnt und war einer von 68 Mauer- und Tortürmen der Stadtbefestigung der Freien Reichsstadt Speyer neben den 25 Kirchtürmen.

The Old Gate was the western gate of the city Speyer. With a height of 55 meters, it is one of the highest and most important city gates of Germany. It was in 1176 the first time mentioned in a document and was one of 68 masonry gate towers of the fortification of the free imperial city of Speyer in addition to the 25 steeples.
