DESCRIBED BY CALTRANS 1997 (JRL)
THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF US HIGHWAY 97, ABOUT 31 MI (49.9 KM) EAST OF YREKA, 30 MI (48.3 KM) NORTHEAST OF WEED, AND 5 MI (8.0 KM) SOUTHWEST OF MACDOEL. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF US HIGHWAY 97 AND MAIN STREET IN MACDOEL, GO
SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 97 FOR 3.6 MI (5.8 KM) TO THE GOOSENEST RANGER STATION ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 97 FOR 1.2 MI (1.9 KM) TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT AT POST MILE 35.3. THE STATION IS A SURVEY DISK ENCASED IN PVC PIPE WITH ACCESS COVER SET IN CONCRETE FLUSH WITH THE GROUND, 48.4 FT (14.8 M) EAST OF THE CENTER OF HIGHWAY 97, 28.0 FT (8.5 M) SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF A CANAL SIPHON RUNNING UNDER AND CROSSING HIGHWAY 97, AND 2.8 (0.9 M) WEST OF A CARSONITE WITNESS POST. THE STATION WAS OCCUPIED AS PART OF A CALIFORNIA HPGN DENSIFICATION SURVEY.
