The Onlanden is a beautiful river valley landscape. Between the river valleys of the Eelderdiep and Peizerdiep is a wet peat layer.
This landscape consists of woods, hedgerows, rough grassland and ditches where water blossom scented stocks and marsh marigold. The area is being developed. Some time is at the foot of Groningen a contiguous natural area of 3,500 football fields, with rough meadows, swamp forest and plenty of room for excess water.
