The Melba Highway crosses the Yarra River here over the reinforced concrete bridge.
From Wikipedia: (
visit link) "The "Vasey Houghton Bridge," a bridge on the Melba Highway across the Yarra River, was named in his honour and opened on 23 January 1999."
The sign you are looking for reads:
vic roads (with a 'triangular' logo)
S.N. 9277
1999
This plaque is on the southern end of the bridge, western side, on a white painted concrete balustrade of the bridge.
The "deck" bridge is cast concrete with three 'simple' spans, supported on two concrete pylons set into the Yarra River. Five 'orthotropic' reinforced concrete beams support the deck sections. (As evidenced by photos courtesy of Paul G Dodd Photography)
There is foot path on the eastern side (also for cyclists), and the lights are of a 'Victorian' era style. In all - STYLISH!
