Dobre citelný reliéf hradu Ronov, s nekolika menšími útržky zdiva, leží v nevýrazném výbežku do záhybu silnice mezi Adamovem a Útechovem.
Hrad stál hodne daleko nad rekou Svitavou a po silnici skoro 2 km od Adamova. Jeho situování na témer neznatelném výbežku naznacuje bezstarostnost stavebníka a podle jeho charakteru i druhoradou vojenskou funkci.
Hrad se skládal z obdélného jádra na vyvýšeném stredovém pahorku, které bylo zrejme bez príkopu obklopeno petiúhelníkem obvodní hradby. K bližšímu popisu se dostaneme pozdeji.
Celková situace vzhledem k okolnímu terénu vypovídá, že o prírodní ochrane, v tomto prípade tedy svahu, se dá mluvit snad jen na severu, jinde, a to predevším na jihu a západe, byl hrad snadno ohrozitelný pokracují planinou. Navíc v jeho okolí chybí náznaky príkopu ci valu, které však mohly být postupem casu zarovnány, ovšem jejich existenci nic nenasvedcuje. O príkopu snad lze mluvit v cele, kde je náznak projmutí a vzhledem ke znatelným zbytkum brány se dá cekat most, který prekonával alespon menší príkop.
Jádro hradu ve tvaru obdélníku, o stranách približne 28 x 10 m patrí k tem, které jsou tzv. zavrená. To znamená, že destrukce horních pater se zrítila dovnitr a pahorek tak ukrývá pod nánosem sute a hlíny zbytky zdí do výše více pater, v tomhle prípade zrejme prvního. Z toho se dá usoudit, že dnešní pahorek je tedy mnohem vyšší, než ve skutecnosti byl. Je jinak situován mimo stred obvodního ohrazení. Dnes lze na jeho povrchu rozeznat tri prohlubne, dve menší krajní a jednu témer trojnásobnou mezi nimi, na jejímž severovýchodním boku se zachoval asi metr vysoký a dva metry široký úsek lícované zdi. Otázkou zustává, zda šlo o trojprostorový palác, nebo jinou skladbu jádra.
Petiboké ohrazení jádra má nejdelší osy asi 60 x 50 m, pricemž v celní strane je hradba mírne zalomená. Mela sílu asi 1 m a po celém obvodu se rýsují hrázky amorfního zdiva, místy s nepatrnými úseky lícovaných kamenu. V cele stála zminovaná brána, dnes patrná v prerušení hrazení, opet s nekolika prícnými kameny tvorících znatelný líc. Mela patrné podobu drobnejší vstupní veže. Jihozápadne od jádra je mezi jím a hrazením nejvíc místa a vznikl tím nejspíš prostor pro hospodárskou ci jinou zástavbu lehcí konstrukce.
Upresnení charakteru sídla i jeho zánik je v rukou archeologie a tedy prípadného výzkumu.
První zmínka pochází z roku 1364 v souvislosti s Cenkem Krušinou. Z roku 1369 jsou známé jeho stavební úpravy. Další zprávy o hradu jsou neznámé a blíže se k životu na nem muže vyjádrit prípadný výzkum.
