DE: Seit über 60 Jahren gibt es das Kreuz auf dem Fichtelberg in Kottenheim mittlerweile schon. 1953 entschloss sich der Junggesellenverein, das Mahnmal im Gedenken an die Gefallenen der beiden Weltkriege zu errichten. Als die Kolpingsfamilie 1993 das zweite Kreuz aufstellen ließ, war dies auch einer unruhigen Zeit geschuldet, schließlich hielt seit 1990 der Krieg zwischen Irak und Kuwait die Welt in Atem.

Dass 2010 ein drittes Kreuz installiert werden musste, hatte natürliche Gründe: Das alte war schlicht und einfach verwittert.
