This control point was set in 1956 by the U.S. Engineers. The point is a surveyor tack in a lead plug set flush in the west sidewalk, 2.5 feet north of the concrete spire at the north end of the northwest arch of the bridge.

DESCRIBED BY US ENGINEERS 1956 (LSB) THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE SIUSLAW RIVER BRIDGE IN FLORENCE. THE STATION MARK IS A SURVEYORS TACK SET IN A LEAD PLUG WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE WEST SIDEWALK OF THE BRIDGE. IT IS 482 FEET SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE BRIDGE, 15 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 101, 2.5 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH EDGE OF THE CONCRETE SPIRE WHICH IS LOCATED AT THE NORTH END OF THE NORTHWEST ARCH OF THE BRIDGE, AND 1.8 FEET WEST OF THE EAST EDGE OF THE SIDEWALK.
