A mounted plaque on a small boulder reads:

BACK BAY VIEW PARK
2005

The trail coming up the hill follows a roadway that was graded in 1907 when Back Bay Drive passed through this site. It was the first roadway access to the new Corona del Mar Village.

The 11 acre park site was granted to the City of Newport Beach by the Irvine Company.

There are some great views of Back Bay below and the park contains native plants that have been re-established here. Bay Bay View Park is part of an 11 mile bike loop that cyclists can take advantage of which winds around the Back Bay Nature Preserve and other points of interest.

Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 2005
