This memorial is located beside the Salamanca Rail Museum in Salamanca New York.

The memorial is dedicated to Sydney T. Smith (Engineer) and David L. Varner (Brakeman) who died in a head on train collision in Colden, NY on February 6th, 1987. It also honours fellow railroad workers from the Salamanca area who also died in the line of duty.

The memorial was placed by friends and coworkers in 1988.
