The Salamanca Rail Museum was once a key part of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway (B R & P). Salamanca was a big part in the BR&P's maintenance facilities having a turntable, two stall enginehouse and Ramsey Transfer mechanism built in the late 1800s and in 1906 East Salamanca had a new roundhouse and enginehouse built. 1918 saw the development of a shop facility as well.

This station was built in 1912 by the BR&P. In 1928 the BR&P was bought by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O). That station operated until 1956 when passenger service ended. In 1980 it reopened as a museum with several railcars and cabooses on display nearby.

The museum if free to enjoy. Hours are 10-5 Tue-Sat and 12-5 Sundays.
