"Im Jahr 1965 zählte die damalige Amtsverwaltung Adenau 23 Mitarbeiter. 1969 wurde am Kirchplatz ein neues Rathaus gebaut. Nachdem das vormals selbstständige Amt Antweiler im Jahr 1971 der Verbandsgemeinde Adenau zugeschlagen worden war und weil auch für die 1972 gegründete Sozialstation Adenau-Altenahr Büroräume bereitgestellt werden mussten, bekam die Verwaltung massive Platzprobleme. Deshalb wurde 1973 ein Erweiterungsbau errichtet. Aber auch dieses Gebäude wurde bald zu klein; deshalb wurde ein weiterer Gebäudetrakt geplant. Dieser Plan wurde allerdings verworfen, als im Jahr 2009 das nebenstehende Gebäude des ehemaligen Amtsgerichtes zum Kauf stand. Noch im gleichen Jahr erwarb die Verbandsgemeinde Adenau die Immobilie vom Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB). Ab Anfang 2010 wurde in dem Rathaus, in dessen Umfeld sowie im angrenzenden Gebäude des ehemaligen Amtsgerichts bei laufendem Betrieb saniert und umgebaut. Dabei wurde die Verbandsgemeindeverwaltung räumlich grundlegend umstrukturiert."
