QE1243 - OSHD RIVET 6 - Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This Oregon State Highway Dept. rivet was probably set about 1933 as a preliminary leveling point prior to setting the cap for QE1244. It is located at the southwest corner of the bridge.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1988 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. 24.5 KM (15.20 MI) NORTHERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 101 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 126 IN FLORENCE, IN THE SOUTHWEST ABUTMENT WALKWAY OF A HIGHWAY BRIDGE SPANNING BIG CREEK, 5.1 M (16.7 FT) WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND 1.1 M (3.6 FT) NORTH OF THE SOUTH END OF THE WALKWAY. NOTE--THE BRIDGE ABUTMENT IS RESTING ON BEDROCK. THE MARK IS 0.25 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.
