The cemetery here is over 100 years old. It was not planned for more than a dozen cars to park. At the time, the area had many veterans from all branches and especially Army Signal Depot and Mather and McClellan AFB. The nearest National Cemetery was San Joaquin Valley which was several hours south. The newest one, at Dixon, is still an hour one way in the next county, Solano. As the veterans and their wives got older, it became more difficult to drive, let alone visit a loved ones place.
