The old Saint Thomas Anglican church was built between 1822 and 1824.

The tower was added in 1825. The building is a classic example of the Gothic Revival style common among early Canadian pioneer churches.

The church was consecrated in 1833 and enlarged in 1840. By 1877 the congregation had outgrown the church, and moved to the nearby Trinity Anglican Church, which is still in existence.

The church was designated an Ontario heritage site in 1982, and beginning in 1986 received extensive restoration and renovation.

There are still services conduted in the church a few times a year, such as Christmas and Heritage Days.

Free tours are conducted daily and on weekends.
