Texas Historic Sites Atlas

Dallas architect J.E. Flanders designed this eclectic residence for Stephen and Lillie Snapp Heard. Incorporating Queen Anne and Neoclassical Revival details, this residence stands as one of McKinneys most unique and best preserved dwellings.

Stephen Heard, who was among the city's most successful merchants of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was co-owner of the Heard Bros. General Store. He was a director not only of the Collin County National Bank, but also of every major industrial enterprise in McKinney. After his death in 1926, his wife owned the house until her death in 1932
