"Cette "Voie de la 2ème DB" s'apparente à la "Voie de la Liberté" dont elle a repris le symbolisme, mais s'en distingue par son tracé qui suit le chemin parcouru par la Division Leclerc depuis son débarquement le 1er août 1944 à St Martin de Varreville (Utah Beach) jusqu'à la prise de Strasbourg, objet du serment de Koufra, et même un peu au-delà, puisque les combats de libération du territoire ne se sont pas achevés avec la prise de Strasbourg.
LES BORNES:
Les "Bornes du serment de Koufra" ont donc l'aspect des bornes de la "Voie de la Liberté", avec notamment:
- le ?ambeau de la statue de la Liberté sortant des flots de l'Atlantique
- l'insigne ? de l'Armée Patton sur le flambeau
- les 48 étoiles de la bannière américaine (l'Alaska et Hawaï n'étaient pas encore rattachés)
mais s'en distinguent par:
- l'insigne de la 2ème DB:
- l'inscription "Borne du serment de Koufra"
- l'inscription "Voie de la 2ème D.B. 1944-1945"
- La distance entre St Martin de Varreville et le lieu de la borne"
