Lahaina is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can still get a feel for old Lahaina as you stroll down lively Front Street and visit historic stops like the U.S. Seamen’s Hospital, Hale Paaho (Lahaina Prison), the Pioneer Inn and other sites on the Lahaina Historic Trail. Approximately 55 acres of old Lahaina have been set aside as historic districts.

The Best Western Pioneer Inn is located at the water's edge on historic Lahaina Harbor, once the whaling capital of the Pacific. Built in 1901, the Pioneer Inn is the oldest hotel in Hawaii and captures the ambiance of old whaling days and the plantation era, with architecture that evokes the tranquil lifestyle of turn-of-the-century Lahaina. Over the years, it has been substantially remodeled to meet Best Western standards, offering all the comforts and convenience of a modern hotel.

A myriad of ocean activities is available just a few steps from the front door, such as whale watching, daily ferry rides to the island of Lanai, scuba diving, snorkeling, world-class fishing, yacht and submarine cruises, parasailing, or sun worshipping.
